REMEMBERANCES

Dan Petrizzo
The New York Chapter of RIMS mourns the loss of Dante (Dan) Petrizzo,
who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 20th. He was only 40 years old.
Dan was an active member of the RIMS NY Board of Directors since 2003. He served in a number of roles and was most recently past President of the chapter. Under his leadership as President, the Chapter was committed to promoting Risk Management as a career path for college students. During his tenure as the Chapter President, our Chapter fully funded our Thomas Regan Memorial Scholarship at The Spencer Educational Foundation in the amount of $100,000.
Dan was also instrumental in establishing the NY Chapter’s 2nd Spencer Scholarship in the amount of $100,000, as well. The Scholarship will now be named The Dante Petrizzo Memorial Educational Scholarship in his memory.
Dan was the Assistant Vice President of Risk & Insurance at AXA Equitable in New York City since 2004. He began his career in Risk Management with MONY (Mutual of New York) in 2000, which was acquired by AXA in 2004. He was also a casualty broker at Aon Risk Services from 1997-2000. He was a graduate of St John’s University and he held the ARM designation (Associate In Risk Management).
Dan is survived by his wife, Melissa, and their 4 year old twins, Olivia & Dante, as well as his mother and sister. An educational trust fund has been set up for his children. If you would like to make a donation to their trust fund, please make your check payable to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and mail it to:

December 11, 2005 - Princeton, NJ - We are saddened to report the passing of long-time RIMS member Tom Tonkovich on December 11, 2005, after a long illness. Most recently, Tom was Vice President of Global Insurance & Risk Services at Merrill Lynch. Prior to Merrill, Tom spent 11 years as a Risk Manager for Met Life. He was also Risk Manager for Sarasota County, Florida and for the Singer Corporation. Tom graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marymount College with a BS in Finance.
A kind work and a smile were trademarks of Tom, as was his quick wit. He has touched a great number of people throughout our industry over the years and he will be sorely missed.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife Emma, a brother and several nieces and nephews.
Donations in Tom's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, for Esophageal Cancer Research, 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
May 27, 2005 - Santa Ana, California - We are sad report that Sheila Roberts, a past President of the New York Chapter of RIMS, passed away on May 27, 2005 after a long illness. In recent years, Shelia had her own consulting business and resided in Santa Ana, California. Earlier in her career she worked at Lionel Trains, Columbia Pictures, and Time Inc. here in New York.
Shelia was President of the New York chapter in 1984. She was a pioneer here in New York as she was the first woman to be President of the New York Chapter. Along with Helen Terry of AXA, Shelia team-taught ARM classes. In fact, many our our more seasoned Risk Managers took their ARM classes with Sheila and Helen.
Sheila had a vibrant personality, and was a strong influence on most underwriters, brokers and Risk Managers who knew her.
On behalf of the Chapter we extend our deepest condolences to her family.
